The engagements of Principal Frank Henry Plumer Clement of the Center School and Miss Alta Mara Sara Badger of Manchester, N. H., and that of Miss Grace A. Wilson, a teacher, and Theodore C. Hart of Hartford, were both announced in a unique manner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Carroll of Main street, Thursday evening. As a number of the teachers entered the dining room they were surprised to find a large wedding bell of flowers and other decorations arranged in around the room. They were then handed an envelope containing the announcements. Mr. Clement, whose home is in Manchester, N. H., has been principal of the Center School two years and has gained a large circle of friends who were congratulating him yesterday. Miss Wilson was a teacher in the Second North School for a few years and is now teaching in Hartford but resides here during the school year. Her home is in St. Johnsbury, Vt.

Mrs. Loleta I. Clement, student at the Palmer School of Chiropractic, has filed suit in Scott district court for divorce, on grounds of cruelty, from Frank H. P. Clement whom she married July 21, 1921.
She charges her husband with excessive jealousy, claims he scolded her for talking to other chiropractic students on the street, and threatened to shoot her. He is 45 years of age while she is 25.
The couple now lives at 130 West Fifteenth street, but were formerly residents of Connecticut where Mrs. Clement claims she owns four lots and two cottages. She states her husband obtained a guardianship over her shortly after their marriage and that he took charge of her property. She asks to be awarded clear title to this real estate. Bush & Bush are her attorneys.

Jewett City people were filled with sorrow Saturday morning when it became known that Mrs. Alta Clement, wife of F. H. P. Clement, superintendent of the public schools of Griswold and principal of the Riverside grammar school, had died during the night. Mrs. Clement was ill less than a week. It was not believed that her illness was such as to cause apprehension until suddenly at the last conditions came that were entirely baffling to medical skill. Mrs. Clement was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Badger of Manchester, N. H., and was born in that city Feb. 11, 1893. She and Mrs. Clement were the children of neighbors and were youthful playmates. They were married five years ago and have lived her nearly three years, in which short time both have made friends of everyone whom they have met. Mrs. Clement was a lovable, gracious woman, an acquisition to any community, a friend whom to lose is the cause for a sorrow not soon to be healed. She was an only child and is survived by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Virginia, 3 years of age. She was a member of Dorcas circle of the King's Daughters, the Ladies' society of the Congregational church and the Y. P. S. C. E. The body was taken Saturday morning to her home in Manchester, N. H., where the funeral will be held. Mr. Clement, who is ill, was not able to go. Mrs. Badger was here caring for her daughter and went to Manchester with her body. The teachers of the Riverside grammar school have telegraphed flowers to Manchester.
