Miss Betty Ann McDonald, daughter of Mrs. Christy McDonald of East Orange, N. J., formerly resident here, is a popular member of the Senior Class of Earlham College.

Miss McDonald came to Earlham from East Orange where she was one of the highest ranking students in a class of more than four hundred in the high school from which she graduated. She has been three times winner of the class honor scholarship at the college, is president of the Women's Precedent Committee, vice-president of the Women's Athletic Association, is a member of Ye Anglican, honorary literary society, and has been center halfback on the All-Earlham hockey team for the past two years.

Miss McDonald is a niece of Mrs. Frank L. Harold, 42 South Nineteenth Street.

Albert J. Corsi, Printer Here, Dies Due To Heart Attack

Albert J. Corsi, head of a local printing business and former local manager of the Indiana State Employment service, died suddenly early Thursday after suffering a heart attack Wednesday evening at his home, 2425 South D street. He was 43 years old.

Corsi, one of the city's most decorated veterans of World War II, had been in ill health since suffering a severe heart attack at his home on May 9, 1952.

Since then he recovered enough to resume management of the Corsi Printing company and recently enrolled in a woodworking night class at the school as a hobby.

A graduate of Morton high school and Earlham college, Corsi was born May 12, 1911. Corsi played football in high school and college and was well known among local golfers.

Since high school days he maintained an interest in the printing trade, finally opening his own shop here in July, 1949.

He became manager of the employment office in Morton Center in 1941, but left for naval service in September, 1942. He spent four years in the navy, being discharged as a lieutenant commander. His experience in the navy included six major campaigns.

He received serious wounds in the Normandy invasion in 1944. Previously, he had been with forces invading North Africa, Bizerte, Salerno and Anzio.

He received multiple shrapnel wounds of the leg, feet and face as he led his ship into the Normandy invasion and spent 14 months recuperation in naval hospitals. He was commanding a landing ship that was hit by an aerial bomb and sunk off the French coast, June 10, 1944.

His decorations included the Purple Heart medal, Silver cross and the Navy cross, which ranks second to the Congressional Medal of Honor. He wore the European theater ribbon with five battle stars.

Corsi was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, the American Legion and a past director of the local Kiwanis club.

Survivors include the widow, Anne M.; one son, Michael, at home; the father, Aneillo, Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Albert Romain, Richmond; three brothers, Nuncio, Patrick and Myron, all of Richmond.

Funeral services for Mr. Corsi will be held Saturday at 10:30 a. m. in the St. Mary Catholic church with Father Maurice Dugan officiating. Friends may call at the Jones and Placke funeral home after 2 p. m.Friday.

Anne Corsi

Anne McDonald Corsi, age 92, of Richmond, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Friends Fellowship Community.

She was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Huntington, W.V., to Malcolm McDonald and Cristie Bell McDonald and was a resident of Richmond most of her life.

Mrs. Corsi was a 1937 graduate of Earlham College. She retired as a secretary of the Alumni Services at Earlham College. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church. Anne was a Life Master of Contract Bridge and played bridge every Tuesday and Thursday.

Survivors include her son Michael Corsi and his wife Cheri of Camden, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michael J. Corsi of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mellissa Corsi of Lewisburg, Ohio; one great-granddaughter, Julia Fourman of Lewisburg, Ohio; two nieces, Sheila Keeney of Washington, D.C., and Beth Johnston of Athens, Ga.; one nephew, Jack Spear of Rochester, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Corsi who died in 1955; her brother, Malcolm McDonald; and her sister, Virginia Spear.

Graveside services for Anne McDonald Corsi will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Earlham Cemetery. Father Rick Kautz will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.
