WILLARD D. CRANNEY

Willard D. Cranney, 54, Oakley, died Thursday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near his home.

He was born July 31, 1914 at Oakley, the son of Willard Dean and Etta Jane Mabey Cranney. He attended school at Oakley and graduated from Oakley High School, and later attended the Utah State University at Logan. He was a well-known thoroughbred horse breeder and rancher.

He married Rae Clark on March29, 1938 at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and they have lived in Oakley all their married life.

Mr. Cranney was a member of the LDS Church, Burley Elks Lodge, charter member of the Cassia County Mounted Sheriff's Force and a past captain of the organization, a charter member of the Idaho Horse Racing Association, and a member of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

He is survived by his widow of Oakley; four sons, Willard (Bill) Cranney, Jr., Michael W. Cranney, and Douglas K. Cranney, all of Oakley, and Dr. Gary C. Cranney, Allentown, N.J.; his mother, Mrs. Duane Cranney, Oakley; two brothers, Wendell Cranney, Morley, Mich., and Del Cranney, Heyburn; two sisters, Mrs. Byron (Maxine) Fisher, Deelo, and Mrs. Russell (LuRae) Kimber, Farmington, Utah; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Oakley Stake House with Bishop Floyd Pickett officiating. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary Friday afternoon and evening and at the place of service one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.

Rae C. Cranney

82-year-old Oakley resident, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital-Extended Care Facility in Rupert. She was born on March 22, 1918, at Oakley, the daughter of Solomon Hale and Sarah Blanche Bates Clark. Rae attended school in Oakley, graduating from Oakley High School. After her graduation, she attended Utah Agricultural College in Logan, Utah, for one year. She married Willard D. Cranney III on March 29, 1938, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1968. Rae loved to work and was a co-owner of B-Mary Dress Shop for many years. Rae was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in various capacities as ward primary president, stake primary president and youth teacher. She sang with the Sweet Adelines for many years. Rae loved to help others while serving in the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to work on the family farm and spend time with her family. Survivors include four sons, Willard "Bill" D. Nancy Cranney IV, Michael Wayne Kathy Cranney and Douglas Keith Karla Cranney, all of Oakley, and Gary Clark Lucy Cranney of San Marcos, California; a sister, Marilyn Clark Seeds of Camas, Washington; a brother, Franklin K. Clark of Glenns Ferry; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alan J. Cranney; a daughter-in-law, Robyn Pace Cranney; and a grandson, Gregory D. Cranney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000, at the Oakley LDS Stake Center at 301 N. Center in Oakley, with Bishop Denny Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Marion Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Payne Mortuary at 221 W. Main St. in Burley, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church.
