B. David Cross

B. David Cross, 66, 1540 Taft Road, died at 3 a.m. today in Marion Health Care Center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1918, to Budd L. and Sara Wise Cross and was married Aug. 25, 1939, to Janette P. Baker Cross, who survives.

Moving to Marion from Mount Gilead, he retired here in 1983, from Fairfield Engineering Co. Before that he was president of marion Hydraulic Machinery. In Mount Gilead, he was employed with HPM.

He was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church, Marion Airfoils, Loyal Order of Moose 889 and Gas and Steam Engine Society.

Also surviving are two sons, Michal Cross, Brunswick, and Mark Cross, Marion; a daughter, Linda McLaughlin, Caledonia; and four grandchildren.

The service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Marion Chapel, Snyder Funeral Homes, by the Rev. John C. Boldt. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or People in God's Service League, Timothy Lutheran Church.

Janette Cross Pica

MARION — Janette Cross Pica, age 90, of Marion passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2008, at Marion Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Mount Gilead on June 20, 1917, to Tolly and Verba Baker, she was twice married. Both her first husband; David Cross and her second husband; John Pica preceded here in death. Janette had been a kitchen assistant at River Valley High School and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the A.B.W.A. and King's Daughters.

She is survived by two sons, Mike (Lynda0 Cross of Texas and Mark Cross of Marion; a daughter, Linda McLaughlin of Marion; a niece, Diana (Jim) Williams of Marion and Joe (Mary Lou) Garver of Burton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She had asked Jesus Christ to be her Savior and Lord of her life and because of that, she knew she was going to heaven.

According to her wishes, no visiting hours or services will be held.

Arrangements have been handled for her family by the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home.
