PHILIPSBURG, April 14.—The body of T/4 Harvey Grant Edwards, World War II veteran was returned to Philipsburg Wednesday. A military guard of honor escorted the body from Drummond and the remains were taken to the Wilson funeral home. The body had been forwarded from the Oakland Air base at Oakland, Calif.
The hero was the son of the late C. C. Edwards and Mrs. Albertina Gifford, and was born in Philipsburg, Aug. 27, 1919. He attended the local schools and graduated from the Granite county high school with the class of 1938. He entered the Army with the engineers on Aug. 18, 1941. At the time of Pearl Harbor he was at Angel Island Barracks in San Francisco bay. Later he was stationed for a time in Hawaii. He was attached to the Marine Division, and he died in the invasion of Saipan in July, 1944. After leaving here to enter the service, he never enjoyed a furlough at home.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p. m. Saturday afternoon with military honors. Burial will take place in the Philipsburg cemetery in the family plot.
