Joyce Jones, Mr. Englesby Speak Vows

The marriage of Miss Joyce LaVaugn Jones and Howard E. Englesby, Jr., was solemnized at 4 Sunday afternoon in the First Presbyterian church, Paw Paw, the Rev. Malcolm McNeil, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley W. Jones, Portage street, are the bride's parents and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Englesby, Paw Paw.

Approximately 200 guests attended the ceremony and reception which followed in the church parlors.

With her gown of white taffeta, Miss Jones wore a lace jacket and nylon illusion veil. Her bouquet was of white roses and ivy.

Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Roger Try, whose headband and arm bouquet of daisies accented her frock of yellow taffeta shantung. An identical gown of yellow was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Beatrice Englesby, Paw Paw, sister of the bride.

Hugh Dwelley, Millington, served as best man. Guests were seated by Allen Cooper, Mattawan, and Jay Groat and Tom Alvery, Vicksburg.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Miss Ruth Smith, Otter Lake, vocalist.

When Mr. and Mrs. Englesby, Jr., left on a trip to Norther Michigan and Wisconsin she wore a red shantung suit with white accessories.

Mrs. Englesby, Jr., was graduated from Central high school and is employed by the Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company. Her husband is a senior at Western Michigan College where he is a member of Sigma Tau Gamma and a photographer for the Brown and Gold and Herald staffs. He also is a member of the Sabre and Key, ROTC honor society. They will reside at 2124 South Burdick street.

HOWARD E. ENGLESBY

Howard E. Englesby, Lt. Col. (Ret.), 66, of North Fort Myers, died Monday.

A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel formerly of Swansboro, North Carolina. He had resided here for the past five years and was a member of the North Fort Myers United Methodist Church. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he entered the Army as a Second Lieutenant and served during WWII, the Korean war and Vietnam.

Col. Englesby is survived by his wife Joyce L. "Bonnie" Englesby, a daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Burton Gibbs of Mars Hill, N.C., two grandsons, William and Harrison, and a sister Beatrice Cooper of Otsego, Michigan. He is preceded in death by a son Steven H. Englesby.

Interment will be at a later date in Jacksonville, N.C. Local arrangement by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
