Miss Madalyn E. Flickinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Flickinger, 315 Centennial avenue, this place, and Walter E. Maust, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Maust, Gettysburg, were married Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the parsonage of the First Church of God, Westminster, Md., by the pastor, Rev. H. C. Gonso. The bride is a graduate of the Hanover High school and attended Western Maryland college. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Gettysburg High school and is employed at the Hotel Gettysburg.

Madalyne E. Maust, 83, of Hanover, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at The Shepherd's Choice, Gettysburg, where she had been a resident for a short time.
She was the loving wife of Walter E. Maust St., to whom she was married since September 28, 1940.
Born in Hanover on August 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Anna Stambaugh Flickinger.
Mrs. Maust was a member of the class of 1937 Eichelberger High School. She also attended Western Maryland College.
She worked in retail sales in various stores in Hanover, most recently at the former W.T. Grant Store.
Mrs. Maust was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover. She was also a member of the YWives and the AARP meeting at Trinity.
Mrs. Maust is survived by her children Walter E. Maust Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Hanover; Elaine C. Bobick and William of Fenellton, Pa.; and Lynne M. Scott of Hanover; her grandchildren Julie Helman, Erica Neiderer, David Maust, Damon Horner, Paul Horner and Kristin Scott; and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover. The family suggests contributions be sent to the Trinity United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or the Visiting Nurse Association.

Walter E. Maust Sr., 84, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Monday morning, Nov.21, 2005, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Madalyn Flickinger Maust, who died March 25, 2004.
The son of the late Arthur and Orpha Folk Maust, Mr. Maust was born Saturday, April 9, 1921 in Myersdale, Somerset County. During the 1920s, the family moved to Gettysburg where Mr. Maust attended public school. As a high school student, Mr. Maust soon became recognized as one of Gettysburg's finest student-athletes, excelling in football, basketball and baseball.
Following graduation from Gettysburg High School with the class of 1938, he was employed by Hanover Shoe. In 1940, he married Madalyn Flickinger and moved to Hanover. In 1944, feeling the need to serve his country during World War II, Mr. Maust enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with pride and honor as a Sergeant in the European Theatre of Operations.
Upon his return to Hanover in 1945, Mr. Maust began a career as a U.S. Government Rural Mail Carrier and for 27 years delivered mail to Hanover RD 2 and 3 before retiring.
Mr. Maust was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and had been an active member of the Hanover Jaycees.
He had a passion for golf and was an inspiration to others golfers as he continued to play to his sport following a leg amputation.
Mr. Maust also enjoyed making cabinets and other woodworking projects.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter E. Maust Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Hanover; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn M. Scott of Hanover and Elaine C. Bobick and her husband, William, of Fenelton, Pa.; six grandchildren, Julie Helman, Erica Neiderer, David Maust, Damon Horner, Paul Horner and Kristin Scott; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service noon Friday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York St., Hanover. Viewing will be at the church Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Rev. Julian E. Hall will officiate. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, is in charge of arrangements.
