Allene Gates Weds Tarzan Weismuller
DONNER TRAIL RANCH, Nev.—Johnny "Tarzan" Weismuller was married last night to blonde golf satr Allene Gates five hours after getting a Reno divorce from San Franciso socialite Beryl Scott.
"This is a take this time," said the twice-divorced Hollywood star in film parlance after Mormon Bishop Eldon Wittwere pronounced the vows at this luxurious divorcee dude ranch.
"Four and one-half hours of freedom—that's too much," the swimmer said and hugged his 22-year-old bride who had idolized "her Johnny" since she met him on a golf course when she was 12.
"He said he'd wait for me nine years ago, but he got married in between," said the new mate of the Screen tarzan.
The new Mrs. Weismuller was Pasadena woman's open champion in 1947 and a medalist in the California sstate golf tournament for women in 1946. It is her first marriage.
