Short Biography of Alice T. Gibson

Alice Gibson was a pupil of Herbert Joy in Denmark before her marriage to Walter Hornby. After settling in Monrovia, California in 1890, she studied with Gutzon Borglum in Sierra Madre (1904-1905), Benjamin C. Brown (1906-1907), and Louise Garden MacLeod at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design.

She died in Big Bear City, California on November 6, 1960. Her work includes landscapes with wild flowers and floral still lifes.

She was a member of the Women Painters of the West, the MacDowell Club in Los Angeles.

She exhibited at the Burbank City Hall, 1916, the Sunset Canyon Country Club, 1927-33, and at Gardena High School, 1932-38.
