Johnson-Grimes Wedding Event Of Wednesday In Trinity Church
The small twin flower girls, Miss Mary and Miss Mildred Butler, attired in gowns matching that of the maid of honor, Miss Jane Arthur, added a piquant note to the wedding tableau of Miss Hildegarde Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar T. Johnson, and Lieut. Gordon Mills Grimes, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Alden Grimes. Their marriage was solemnized at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday, in Trinity Episcopal church, with the Rev. G. I. Hiller performing the ceremony. Miss Johnson, given in marriage by her father, chose white mousseline de soie with lace bodice, and a fingertip veil caught with a halo of gardenias. Her bouquet was of gardenias, rosebuds and stephanotis.
Miss Arthur and Miss Mary and Miss Mildred Butler wore pale blue taffeta and matching net headdresses with pink rosebuds; they carried bouquets of pink roses.
Lieut. Robert Stanfield, Staten Island, N. Y., was best man.
A reception following the ceremony was held in the home of the bride's parents, 2161 S. W. 12th st. The unusual three tiered wedding cake was designed by the bride, the first tier representing the army; the second, the Phi Mu sorority of which the bride is a member; and the third the bridegroom's fraternity, Sigma Chi. Lieutenant Grimes and his bride left for Fort Bragg where he is stationed.
The bride attended Brenau, and the University of Miami; her bridegroom attended George Washington university, and is a graduate of the University of Miami. He received an M. A. degree from Harvard.
