RANDOLPH, Aug. 6. — Carl I. Hall, news editor of the Randolph Register for the last eight years and a newspaper man for 49 years, died here shortly after noon Wednesday, aged 65 years. He started here on Sept. 5, 1887. For many years Mr. Hall was chief proofreader of the Congressional Record in the Government printing office at Washington, D. C.
He was born May 1, 1871 at Cold Springs, the youngest son of Leveret and Annette Timmerman Hall. He attended the East Randolph school and entered the office of the Randolph Register as an apprentice in 1887. About 1896 he went to Bradford, Pa., Record, where he was composing room foreman for a year or two. He returned to the Randolph Register for about 10 years and then became composing room foreman of The Jamestown Post. He served on The Post for a year or two and then entered the government printing office in Washington as a proofreader. He was rapidly promoted to chief proofreader of the Congressional Record, a position he held until eight years ago.
He returned to the Register following his resignation from the government position and became news editor. He complained of ill health about Christmas time and became so ill that he had been confined to his home since the latter part of February.
Mr. Hall held several village offices in Randolph. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Randolph and the Jamestown Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a 32d degree Mason.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Mrs. Estelle Bryant Hall, whom he married June 24, 1900, and a brother, C. Frank Hall of East Aurora.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p. m. at the Holtink funeral home in Randolph. Interment will be in the Randolph cemetery with Masonic rites.

RANDOLPH — Mrs. Estelle B. Hall, 87, of Randolph, died Monda in the Salamanca District Hospital, where she had been a patient five days.
Born in Randolph, Nov. 4, 1866, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Williams Bryant. She was the widow of Carl I. Hall.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sample and Mrs. Emir Woodmancy, Randolph; a brother, Samuel Bryant, Bradenton, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday from the Holtink Funeral Home. Rev. Gerald Greene, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Jamestown will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph Cemetery.
