Lewis-Gale Exchange Vows In Oakland

Marguerite Hall Gale of Oakland exchanged wedding vows with Joseph L. Lewis of Santa Maria at civil rites performed July 30 by Judge Buckley in the Judge's chambers in Oakland before a group of the couples immediate family and close friends.

Mrs. Halcyon Ferrari attended the couple as matron of honor and George F. Hall was the groom's attendant.

Mrs. and Mrs. William E. Ferrari were hosts at a wedding reception honoring the newlyweds at their home at 210 Hillcrest Rd., Berkeley.

A champagne dinner and reception was hosted in Santa Maria for Mr. and Mrs. Lewis upon their return here by Mr. Lewis's son, James Lewis, at the family home at 1033 N. Rosalind Drive. Mr. Lewis and his sons own an operate Larry's Western Shop in Santa Maria and the Salinas Wester Shop in Salinas.

Edgar L. Gale, Of Pioneer Family, Dies

Edgar L. Gale, 86, of Oakland, Calif., a retired Bremerton publisher and member of a pioneer Washington family, died Friday.

Mr. Gale was the son of Col. Hiram R. Gale, the last Civil War veteran in the Pacific Northwest and a past commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. The elder Mr. Gale was 104 when he died in 1951.

Mr. Gale, published The Bremerton News and The Port Orchard Independent. He also was in the real-estate business in Seattle. He retired in 1958.

Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Steele, Manhattan Beach, Calif.., and Mrs. Marguerite Mosher, Hawthorne, Calif., and a sister Mrs. Lewis S. Munson, Wilmington, Del.
