Decorah, Ia.—At the Washington Prairie Lutheran church Saturday at 6:30 p. m., Miss Irene Olive Bakke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip H. Bakke, Decorah, and Dr. William W. Hart, son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert S. Hart, Groton, S. D., were married by Rev. Oscar E. Engebretson. The wedding was on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the marriage of the bride's parents. The bride received her education at Luther college and the Presbyterian hospital in Chicago. Dr. Hart is a graduate of the University of South Dakota and Rush medical college, Chicago. They will live in Kansas City, where Dr. Hart will serve his internship at the general hospital.

Irene B. Hart, 91, died peacefully Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
A luminous soul, she will be mourned by family and many friends. Irene was known for her sweet disposition, ready smile, soft caring voice, and shining blue eyes. Blue was her favorite color. She was a proud Norwegian-American from the farms of Decorah, Iowa. It's there she developed the love of horses, dogs, hummingbirds and dancing. She attended Luther College followed by nursing school in Chicago, where she met her husband, Dr. William W. Hart from South Dakota. They were married Jan. 16, 1943, and they forged a loving marriage, and lived throughout the world while Dr. Hart was a hospital commander in the United States Air Force. Upon Dr. Hart's death in 1992, Irene stayed in San Antonio, but then moved to La Crosse to be near her family. She attended English Lutheran Church in La Crosse, enjoyed her friends and quilting group, walks wit her dog, and visits with her family. Irene will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her parents,Philip and Ida Bakke; her twin sister, Phyllis Blair; and her brother, Andrew Bakke.
She is survived by her sons, Bill (Mary Rose) and Greg (Lidia); her daughter, Cindy (Steve); her grandchildren, Patricia, Margaret, Christopher, Tripp and Jenna; and her great-grandchildren, Sunny and Odin.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, at English Lutheran Church, 1509 King St., La Crosse. The Rev. Duane Baardseth will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the English Lutheran Church quilters, the Coulee Region Humane Society, or a charity of the donor's choice.
