Houston-Marcusen

Miss Dorothy Houston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clay F. Houston of Malta Bend, Mo., was married to Mr. Oral Marcusen, son of Mrs. Jorgen Marcusen of Audubon, Ia., at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 8, and the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. M. F. Sewell, and Dr. Sewell in Kansas City. Mrs. Ona Miller Briefer, a harpist, played the wedding music. The tapers were lighted by Miss Mary Lou Myers and Miss Harriet Myers of El Dorado, Kas., nieces of the bridegroom.

The bride's father gave her in marriage. She wore a floor-length gown of white crepe, a small hat of white ostrich tips and she carried a colonial bouquet of white gardenias. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Charles E. Woods attended her sister as matron of honor. Her gown was of aquamarine crepe and she carried a colonial bouquet of pink carnations centered with pink rosebuds and yellow acacia. Mr. Robert Y. Taliaferro, jr., acted as best man. A reception followed the ceremony.

The bride and bridegroom left for a honeymoon in St. Louis and will be at home at 127 1/2 West Central avenue, El Dorado.

MRS. DOROTHY H. MARCUSEN

Mrs. Dorothy Houston Marcusen, 59, Malta Bend, MO., formerly of Kansas City, died Tuesday at a hospital in Malta Bend. She was born in Marshall, Mo., and had lived in this area 10 years before moving to Malta Bend in 1950. Mrs. Marcusen had been an artist for Hallmark Cards five years. She graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute and attended William Jewell College and Missouri Valley College. She was a member of the Malta Bend Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Monday Club, the Tuesday Club and the Martons Club. She leaves her husband, Orla J. Marcusen of the home; a son, Clay H. Marcusen, Overland Park; a daughter, Mrs. Dana Marcusen Livsey, Malta Bend; a sister, Mrs. Claybelle Woods, El Dorado, Kan.; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the church; burial in the Malta Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until service time today at the Campbell-Lewis Chapel, Marshall. The family suggests contributions to the church of the American Cancer Society.
