Houston—Young

The wedding of Miss Mary Buffitt Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert M. Young of South Bend, Ind., and George F. Houston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forest H. Houston of Chicago, Ill., took place yesterday afternoon at the Summer home of the bride's parents, 77 Glenlawn Ave., Sea Cliff, L. I. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. K. Moore, pastor emeritus of the Sea Cliff M. E. Church.

Miss Janet Perry and Miss Marie Spader of Brooklyn, Miss Eleanor Simon of Belle Harbor, L. I., Mrs. Henry Whitenack of Sea Cliff and Miss Helen Young of South Bend were the attendants for the bride. John Young of South Bend was best man.

After a wedding trip to Canada and New England the bride and bridegroom will make their home in South Bend.

Houston, George F.

Passed on Nov. 29, 2002, age 99 years. Preceded in death by his beloved wives, Mary and Jane. He was a true gentleman. Beloved and loving father of Susan (John) Fortune of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Sally (Lee) Wolcott of Glendale, Wisconsin. Also survived by his beloved 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, nephews, nieces and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Sat., Dec. 7, 2002 at Eastcastle Place Auditorium, 2449 N. Downer Ave. Mr. Houston was born in Burlington, iowa and graduated from Purdue University in 1927 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He worked for many years at Briggs and Stratton Corp. and in real estate after his retirement.
