Miss Ethel Louise Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Robinson, and John A. Houston were married Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents in Minnehaha Park. The ceremony was read by the Rev. E. L. House of teh Westminster Congregational church in the presence of only the immediate family.
Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Houston will be at home, after January 15, at E1426 Thirteenth avenue.

John A. Houston, 46, Spokane agency manager of the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance company and one of the city's most prominent civic and church workers, died this morning at St. Luke's hospital from complications which set in after an appendicitis operation a few weeks ago. His condition had been considered serious but his death was unexpected. He had been in ill health for about a year.
Ever since he came to Spokane 21 years ago, Mr. Houston has been known for his activity in various organizations. At the time of his death he was a trustee of Whitworth college, a member of the Shrine, the Kiwanis club and the Manito Golf club, and was active in the First Presbyterian church.
Born in 1883 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of American Board missionaries, John Houston was brought to the United States when he was two years old. He was educated in Wheaton college, Wheaton, Ill., and in Northwestern university of Chicago.
After he came to Spokane in 1908 he was a salesman for the United States Rubber company for eight years, and later was with the Broadway Fuel & Oil company. For several years he taught salesmanship courses at the Y. M. C. A., and took over the agency managership of the insurance company in 1917 or 1918. He married Ethel Robertson here 18 years ago.
He is survived by his widow and one son, John Jr., 14, a Lewis and Clark student, at the home, W410 Fourteenth. The body is at Smith's.

Graveside rites for Mrs. John A. (Ethel Louise) Houston of San Francisco, former Spokane resident, will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Greenwood.
The Rev. Raymond A. Moody of Manito Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Houston, born in Toronto, Ont., died Wednesday in San Francisco, where she had lived since leaving Spokane about 30 years ago. Funeral services were Saturday in San Francisco.
Mrs. Houston was the widow of John A. Houston, well-known Spokane insurance man, who died here in August 1929. He was district manager of Fidelity Mutual Insurance Co.
Active in various Spokane groups, Mrs. Houston had been a member here of Daughters of the Nile, Chapter AZ of PEO and the Amethyst Club.
She is survived by a son, Dr. John A. Houston, head of the political science department of Knox College, Galesburg, Ill, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Only Spokane survivors are two nieces, Mrs. Robert (Jeanette) Sater and Mrs. Warren (Merle) Watson.
