Clifford and Wilma Yaley will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 15.

Clifford Yaley and Wilma Houston were married Jan. 13, 1945, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Houston, at the family farm east of Denmark. Attendants were Floyd and Ruth Grossman of Denmark.

Serving as hosts for an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ will be their three daughters, Connie Barr of Fort Madison, Sandy Volz of Waterloo, and Patty Holland of Springfield, Ill.

The couple has 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

All friends relatives and neighbors are invited to the open house; no invitations will be sent. The couple requests no gifts.

Wilma Yaley 11-21-03

Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Paul D. and Eva Sharp Houston. On Jan. 13, 1945, she married Clifford L. Yaley in Denmark. He died March 19, 2001.

Mrs. Yaley worked at Sylvania in Burlington and then at the Farmers Saving Bank in Denmark for 10 years.

She was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and was a former member of East Circle of the church.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie Fullenkamp of Agency, Sandra Schneider of Waterloo and Patty Holland of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Houston of Burlington and Ted Houston of Fort Madison; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Yaley will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Daniel Moore officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ.
