Virgil H. Houston, 89, of Burlington, died on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 6:19 a.m. at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
He was born on July 30, 1918 in Fort Madison to Paul and Eva Sharp Houston. On July 10, 1952, he married Doris Behne. She died on March 26, 1976. Virgil worked at IAAP and also at Sheaffer Pen Co, retiring after 35 years. He served in the US Army during World War II and he was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include one brother, Edward "Ted" Houston of Fort Madison and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. There will be a private inurnment in Denmark Cemetery. King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
