HILDA ANN MILLS, 69, formerly of Wilmington, died Tuesday of cancer in Veterans Affairs Nursing Home, Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere.

Mrs. Mills had been an artist. She specialized in Early American painting, Scherenschnitte, the German art of paper cutting, and painting on velvet. She had taught adult education paper cutting classes at Brandywine High School until her illness about three years ago.

She was a member of the Women's Army Corp during World War II and served in Berlin, Germany.

Her husband, Joseph R., died in 1989. She is survived by a son, David H. of Chelsea Estates; a sister, Helen M. Davidson of Wilmington; and a grandson.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Vetereans Affairs Medical Center, Elsmere. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to American Cancer Society, New Castle.
