Daily Times, November 17, 19278742
ORION, Ill., Nov. 17.—(Special)—The marriage of Miss Marjorie Ester Huston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Huston of Orion, to Mr. John Henry Luensman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Luensman of Winnetka, was a pretty home ceremony last evening, at 8 o'clock in the home of the bride's parents. Rev. A. D. Freden of the Lutheran church in Burlington officiated in the presence of 50 relatives and friends.
Preceding a short prenuptial was given as follows: L. D. Porter san "Sunshine of Your Smile," and Mrs. Arvid Johnson of Moline sang "I Love You Truly," after which Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" was played by Miss Yvonne Porter, as the bridal party descended the stairs, to the living room, where the vows were spoken under a large floral arch, on the east side of the roof which was banked with banked with ferns and tall baskets of flowers, forming a beautiful background for the scene. Baskets of chrysanthemums tied with venetian blue and peach tulle, were arranged about the room. Miss Rachel Huston, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mr. Frank Luensman of Winnetka served his brother as best man. The bride wore a sleeveless gown of Spanish lace over white taffeta, period style, close fitting blouse and deep scalloped flounces, her full length embroidered tulle veil was fashioned in a high ruff effect, held by a bandeau of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses and lilies of the valley. The maid of honor wore a georgette frock of peach trimmed in Venetian blue, sleeveless period. She wore a corsage bouquet of roses and baby breath. A two-course luncheon followed the ceremony. A two-tier cake decorated with miniature bride and bridegroom, surrounded with flowers, formed the centerpiece of the bridal table, at either side of which were tall princess tapers. The nutcups and other appointments were in the chosen colors. After the luncheon Mrs. Arvid Johnson sang "At Dawning" and Mr. Porter sang "Always."
The waitresses were Mellisa Whetstone, Thelma Porter, Dessil Nelson, Mildred Wilson, Dorothy Johnson and Louise Lough.
The bridal couple departed the same evening for a short wedding trip. For traveling the bride wore a black georgette dress, a silver muskrat coat and black hat. They will be at home after Dec. 5 at North Brook, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, where the bridegroom has a home, already prepared, for his bride. The bride was born and reared in this community and for the past four years has been doing private nursing in Winnetka. Mr. Luensman is a graduate of the New Tier high school of Winnetka and is on the police force in that city. Out-of-town guests who attended the wedding were: Rev. and Mrs. A. D. Freden and daughter, Hedrig, of Burlington; Mrs. Herman Luensman and son, Frank, and Miss Freda Heinig of Winnetka; Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gauley, Miss Melma Pobanz, and Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Lawson of Moline; Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Naughe of LaPorte City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Huston and family of Alpha.
