One of the attractive home weddings of the early autumn was that which took place Wednesday evening when Miss Margaret E. Irvine, daughter of James Irvine, and Dr. Ralph B. Strong responded to the marriage lines read by the Rev. Henry Kendall Booth at the home of the bride's father, 548 Dayman street, at eight o'clock. The ring ceremony was used and a guest list of intimate friends and relatives were present.
Mis Jessie Guiney, a childhood friend of the bride, was maid of honor, coming from her home in Deming, N. M., for the occasion. She wore a handsome gown of white silk and satin, trimmed with fur, and carried a bouquet of pink roses.
Miss Lucile Raithal, a cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid. She wore an exquisite dress of blue silk and carried pink roses. Dr. S. S. Sweningsen was best man.
The wedding party stood before an altar of ferns, which were brightened with huge baskets of dahlias and gladiolas. On either side of the altar were floor lamps with pink shades casting a pleasant glow over the room.
The bride wore a heavy white satin gown, made simply but beautifully. The veil was held in place by bands of beaded lace and rosebuds. Her bouquet was of rosebuds, lilies of the valley and orchids.
Dr. and Mrs. Strong are both graduates of the local schools in the class of 1916. Mrs. Strong was very active in the affairs of the student body, being a member of the Cerulean staff and a member of the executive board of the Student league.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Strong of Beverly Court, Pine Avenue and Eighth street. He is a graduate of the U. S. C. and a member of Delta Sigma Delta. He is practicing dentistry here with offices in the Markwell building.
After a short wedding trip by auto, Mr. and Mrs. Strong will be at home here.
