The marriage of Miss Augusta Raithel to James E. Irvine, at Deming, is announced to take place at the Methodist church, Wednesday evening, November 18th, at 8 o'clock. Cards are out for the wedding reception at the residence of the bride's parents, at 8:30 o'clock, same evening.

Mrs. Augusta Irvine, aged 41 years, wife of James E. Irvine, proprietor of the Palace drug store, Elm and Ocean avenue, died at her home, 548 Daymon avenue, Monday night at 11 o'clock. Death came following years of lingering illness, and had been anticipated by relatives and physicians for the past few months. The body was taken to the Patterson and McQuilkin funeral parlors where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Inglewood mausoleum.
Mrs. Irvine was a native of Germany, having taken up her residence in this country during early life. Five years ago the family moved here from Deming, New Mexico. Mrs. Irvine, who was suffering at that time from heart trouble at various times, continued to have attacks frequently while in Long Beach, the sickness taking a turn to the worse several months ago. At that time her three brothers, Christian, Arthur and Henry Raithel, came to Long Beach with their sister, Mrs. H. C. Brown, to spend the time here during the crucial illness. Her mother, Mrs. Raithel, attended the bedside at all times during the period.

James E. Irvine, 79, who for 40 years operated the Palace drug store at the corner of Ocean boulevard and Elm avenue, died yesterday at his home, 624 South New Hampshire avenue, Los Angeles.
Irvine, a native of Marshall, Mo., came to Long Beach in 1910 from Deming, N. M., and shortly after his arrival opened his drug store. He retired from business when he sold his store her seven years ago. He moved to Los Angeles a year ago.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias here and the Long Beach Retail Druggists association.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Irvine, Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Strong, Long Beach; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Halther and Mrs. Charles Wilson, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. R. L. Dunnington, Lancaster, Ohio, and Mrs. Mattabelle Beckner of Colorado and a brother, Eugene Irvine, whose present address is unknown.
The Rev. Perry G. M. Austin will officiate at the services in the chapel of the Patterson & Snively mortuary at 1 p. m. Friday.
