Cass County Democrat, February 22, 191211162
A wedding of great interest to Harrisonville and surrounding country is that of Miss Winnefred Sloan Glenn, daughter of Judge and Mrs. Allen Glenn, and Mr. Sam C. Irvine, whose marriage was celebrated Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of the bride in this city. Rev. W. W. Robertson of Carrollton performed the ceremony. To the strains of the Lohengrin Wedding March, played by Miss Margaret Irvine, the bridal procession came down the stairs, the groom and his best man, Mr. Jack Minor, preceding the bride and her maid of honor, Miss Pearl Famuliner, grouping themselves in the arch of the living room, where they stood under a large wedding bell of white carnations.
The decorations were very attractive, the comfortable Glenn house lending itself admirably to the scheme of trailing green vines and La France roses. Smilax was draped in and about the doorways, to the chandeliers, and the windows were veiled in this same graceful vine. The table in the dining room was covered with a lace cloth, the centerpiece, a mirror, held a tall cut glass vase filled with long stemmed pink roses. Ropes of smilax, carried from the chandelier to the four corners of the table, were tied with pink tulle.
The bride's gown was white marquisette over soft messaline, the bodice formed of imported Breton lace. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid was gowned in pink crepe de Chine with falls of iridescent fringe and bands of Irish point. She carried pink roses.
Judge and Mrs. Glenn were assisted in receiving by Mr. S. P. Keller, Mrs. Charles Seal, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin L. Miller, Judge and Mrs. Chas. W. Sloan, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Kunze and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Irvine. Others assisting were Mrs. Price K. Glenn, Misses Bettie Glenn, Clay Williams, Flavia Burney and Katherine Glenn. A buffet supper was served during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Irvine left later in the evening for their future home in Marshall, Missouri, and where they will be at home after March 1st. THe bride's going away gown was a tan broadcloth with hat en suite.
The out of town guests were Mrs. Charles Seal, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Irvine, Misses Ruth and Margaret Irvine, Miss Mary Withers and Mr. Jack Minor of Marshall, and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin L. Miller and Miss Clay Williams of Kansas City.
The guests from town attending were, outside of those assisting in the receiving: Misses Leota Kunze, Georgia Williams, Fay Wilson, Besse Brous, Essie Akin, Stella Diehl, Odell Whitsitt, Ruth Burney, Minnie Farmer, Mary Elizabeth Hartzler and Mary Elizabeth Stuart, Rev. and Mrs. George C. Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Allen, Mrs. Allan Bird, Mr. Ray Denham and Mr. Ludwig O. Kunze, Jr.

Mrs. Irvine had been a resident of Saline county for the past 45 years and besides her family, leaves many friends to mourn her death. She was a faithful member of the Fairville Baptist Church and took an active part in church affairs as long as her health remained.
Mrs. Irvine was also a member of both the Big Bend and the State Archaeological Societies and rarely missed a meeting of either society.
