Peonies combined with yucca blossoms decorated the First Congregation church at Keokuk, Ia., for the wedding Wednesday of Miss Carol Joy Robertson of Unionville, Conn., and Lawrence O. Johnson of Bangor, Mich. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mildred J. Robertson of Chicago and Hugh J. Robertson of Sioux City and a granddaughter of Mrs. C. J. Kirch and C. J. Joy. Mr. Johnson's parents are Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Johnson of Sioux City.
Mrs. Arville E. Cooper played the nuptial music and accompanied Miss Jo Ann Hulson, who sang Because, Lovely Garden and O Perfect Love.
Mrs. Mildred J. Robertson was her daughter's matron of honor, and Miss Lucretia Huiskamp of Madison, Wis., was bridesmaid. Theodore Peterson of Sioux City attended Mr. Johnson as best man. Ushers were Hugh Robertson of New York, the bride's brother, Ralph C. Kirch of Keokuk, Willis F. Terry, jr., of Galesburg, Ill., and Herbert Loring of Galesburg.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in cream satin, fashioned with long sleeves, a round neck and full skirt. The gown had collar and cuffs of rose point lace to match the headdress arrangement of the veil, which was of fingertip length. Her flowers were white, yellow and pink roses.
Mrs. Robertson was dressed in aqua with a large straw hat, and carried carnations in shades of pink. Miss Huiskamp also wore aqua, and carried a colonial bouquet.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left for Bangor, Mich., where they will be at home 211 Walnut street.
Mrs. Johnson attended Morningside college before going to Knox college, Galesburg, Ill., where she was graduated in 1941. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Alpha Iota sororities. The bridegroom is a graduate of Morningside college. He attended Chicago Theological seminary and is now a minister of the Congregational church in Bangor.
The bridegroom's parents and sisters, Helen, Frances and Hazel, all of Sioux City, attended the wedding.

Carol Johnson, 74, died Monday, June 5, 1996, in her home after a sudden illness. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Thursday, United Church of Christ-Congregational. Her body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are with Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Eric of Montgomery, Ala., and Mark of Swansea, Mass.; two daughters, Carla Hassel of Des Moines and Kay Panterne of Tours, France; and a brother, Hugh Robertson of Newport Beach, Calif.

The Rev. Lawrence O. Johnson, 90, of 600 Park St., Grinnell, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services were held Thursday in the Carman Center at Mayflower Homes, Grinnell.
The Rev. Johnson was the minister at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ, Dubuque, where he served from 1960 to 1970. He also served churches in Three Oaks, MI, Elmhurst, IL, Emmetsburg and Ackley, IA. He resided at Mayflower homes for many years after retiring from the ministry.
He was born on May 19, 1917, in Sioux City, IA, son of Oscar and Claudia Johnson. On June 23, 1943, he married Carol Robertson Johnson, in Keokuk; she preceded him in death in 1995.
He graduated from Central High School and Morningside College in Sioux City. He went on to study theology at the Chicago Theological Seminary.
He loved classical music and was an avid clarinet player.
Surviving are two sons, eric Lawrence Johnson, of Wetumpka, AL, and Mark E. Johnson, of Swansea, MA; two daughters, Carla J. Hassel, of Algoma, WI, and Kay Panterne, of Tours, France; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Claudia Goodrich Peterson, of Ankeny, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Huddleson and one grand-daughter.
Memorials may be given to Mayflower Homes and designated for the Mayflower Human Needs Fund.
