Edwin and Myrtle met at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, when it was co-educational. They lived on a 200-acre farm on Middleton Road, Hudson, Ohio, and built their log home from the logs made from trees on their property. In the mid-1940's,
She took courses at Cleveland Medical School where her father, Dr. George Warren Spencer, was a professor. Myrtle moved to Wooster, Ohio, in 1970, after living in Hudson for 57 years. Edwin and Myrtle are buried at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, Ohio.
