Herman Levy, manager of the Orpheum theater, will leave August 1 to become manager of the eight Ralph Goldberg theaters in Omaha.
The Goldberg theaters are independent houses. They include two downtown theaters, the State and the Town; the Avenue, the Military, the Dundee, the Wynn and the Arbor, neighborhood theaters, and one additional theater, still under construction.
Mr. Levy's headquarters will be at the State theater, across the street from the Paxton hotel.
The new position is one of much larger responsibility than that which Mr. Levy held in Sioux City, and Mr. Levy said it seemed to offer fine opportunities for advancement.
No successor to Mr. Levy in Sioux City has been named by Mort Singer, who has control of the Orpheum here and whose head offices are in Chicago.
Mr. Levy is a native Sioux Cityan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham L. Levy. He is a grandson of A. H. Frank, pioneer Sioux City restaurant man, his mother having been Matie Frank. He received his education in the Sioux City schools and was graduated from Central high school in 1928. He has been with the Orpheum theater seven years, for three years as publicity man and assistant manager and four years as manager. He has an agreeable personality and has been one of the most popular managers in the history of the house.
Mr. Levy has a wife and two sons, Bob and Allen. The Levys recently bought a new home at 36 La Salle avenue in Sunset Heights.
