Charlottesville, Va., May 10—Ex-Mayor and Mrs. George W. Olivier, of the University of Virginia, have announced the approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Katharine Roy, to Dr. H. Cabell Maddux, of the United States Army, the event to take place late in the present month. Dr. Maddux is a recent graduate of the Medical School of the University of Virginia. While in college he took a prominent part in athletics, being a member of both the baseball and football teams. He played second base on the varsity nine, an was end on the varsity football eleven.

Miss Katharine Roy Olivier, daughter of former Mayor George W. Olivier, and Dr. Henry Cabell Maddux, U. S. A., were married at the home of the bride's parents, near the University of Virginia, Thursday evening by the Rev. Harry Bedinger Lee, rector of Christ Episcopal Church. The bride was attended by her maid-of-honor, Miss Sallie Whitlock Baker, and the best man was Webb Maddux, of Fauquier county, cousin of the bridegroom. The best men were Dr. H. Clay Michie, Jr., U. S. A., and Hammond Johnson, of Norfolk.
The bride was attired in a handsome gown of white crepe meteor, trimmed with duchess and rose point lact. She wore a tulle veil caught with lilies of the valley, and carried a shower bouquet of the same flowers.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Olivier, and has always been a great social favorite in the city and at the university. She was educated at a private school and recently spent a summer abroad.

Dr. H. Cabell Maddux, a retired Army medical officer who served as a hospital commander in France during World War I, died Tuesday of Parkinson's disease at his home, 4000 Cathedral ave. nw.
Dr. Maddux, who was 78, was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Medaille D'Honneur of France and received a special citation from Gen. John J. Pershing for his service in the Army Medical Corps.
A native of Harrisonburg, Va., Dr. Maddux received both his bachelor and medical degrees from the University of Virginia.
He also attended the Army Medical School in Washington and was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Regular Army Medical Corps. During the war, Dr. Maddux commanded the largest base hospital in France.
He left the Army in 1923, and became a member of the Washington real estate firm of Maddux and Marshall. While he maintained a Washington residence, Dr. Maddux spent most of his time in Ormond Beach, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Pyle Maddux; a son by a former marriage, H. Cabell Maddux Jr., 4730 Maddux ln, McLean, and three grandchildren.
