Will and Probate for Sarah J. Mansur

I, Sarah J. Reid, of the City of Richmond, County of Wayne and State of Indiana, do make, publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all former will by me at any time made.

1. I hereby direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be first paid out of my estate, by my executors hereinafter named.

2. I hereby give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Mansur Myrick, of the City of Richmond, all my household goods, furniture, plate, linen and personal effects, excepting however, money, notes, stocks and bonds, to be her own absolutely.

3. I give and bequeath to the First United Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Indiana, $500 in stock of the Rowlette Desk Manufacturing Company of Richmond, Indiana and empower and direct my executors to transfer the same on the books of said Company to the proper officers or authorities of said church.

4. I give, devise and bequeath all the residue of my property of every kind, be it real personal or mixed as follows: To my daughter, Sarah Mansur Myrick of Richmond, Indiana, I give devise and bequeath the one third part thereof to be her own absolutely. To my grandson Paul Reid McKee, I give, devise and bequeath the one third part thereof, subject to the conditions following, that is to say, if the said Paul Reid McKee shall die leaving no child or children, the share and interest herein devised and bequeathed to him, I direct shall go as follows to wit: One half to my daughter, Sarah Mansur Myrick, of Richmond, Indiana, and one half thereof to my executors, hereinafter named in trust for the use of my son Mansur Carr Reid, during his life time, to be held by them in the same manner and subject to the same conditions hereinafter stated and set forth. To my executors, Benjamin B. Myrick Jr. and Daniel G. Reid, I give, devise and bequeath the remaining one third part of the said residue of my estate to be held by them as trustees in trust for the use and benefit of my son Mansur Carr Reid, to have, during his life time. My said executors as such trustees, shall hold the share and interest of my estate herein devised and bequeathed to them for the sole use and benefit of my said son Mansur Carr Reid, and shall pay only to him the interest, rents, issues or profits arising there from, during his life time and shall preserve intact during his lifetime the corpus or principal fund of the share and interest herein devised and bequeathed to them. I hereby expressly authorize and empower my said executors as such trustees at any time when in their discretion they shall deem it advisable to sell the whole or any part of the share and interest in the real or personal property herein devised and bequeathed to them in trust, and invest or re-invest the proceeds thereof in such manner as they shall deem best for the use and benefit of my said son Mansur Carr Reid during his life time, and full authorize and empower them to execute and deliver all deeds, instruments of transfer and other writings necessary to pass proper title to said property to the purchaser thereof. At the death of my son Mansur Carr Reid I direct that the share and interest herein devised and bequeathed to my executors in trust for his use, shall go and I hereby devise and bequeath the same to the children of my daughter, Sarah Mansur Myrick, of Richmond, Indiana.

5. I hereby appoint Benjamin B. Myrick junior and Daniel G. Reid of the City of Richmond, Indiana, executors and trustees of this my will.

In testimony whereof i have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of March, A. D. 1896.

The above and foregoing will was signed by the testatrix, Sarah J. Reid, as her last will and testament in our presence and by us signed as witnesses thereto in her presence and in the presence of each other at her request.

Codicil

Because of the death of my son Mansur Carr Reid which has recently occurred, I, Sarah J. Reid, testatrix in the above and foregoing will, do hereby make and declare the following to be a codicil to my said last will and testing, to wit:

Item 4. After the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses as provided in Item first of my said will, and the payment and satisfaction of the legacies given and bequeathed by the 2nd and 3rd items thereof, I give, devise and bequeath all the residue of my estate of every kind and description, be it real, personal or mixed as follows, to wit: To my daughter Sarah Mansur Myrick, I give, devise and bequeath the one thir part thereof to be her own absolutely. To my grandchildren, the children of my daughter, Sarah Mansur Myrick, I give, devise and bequeath one third part thereof to be their own absolutely. To my grandson, Paul Reid McKee, I give, devise and bequeath the remaining one third part thereof, subject however to the condition following, that is to say, if the said Paul Reid McKee shall die leaving no child or children then te share and interest herein devised and bequeathed to him I direct shall go as follows to wit: One half to my daughter Sarah Mansur Myrick, and one half to my grandchildren, the children of my said daughter Sarah Mansur Myrick.
