Earle Lawrence Miller, 77

The funeral for Earle Lawrence Miller, a self-employed home remodeler, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Young's Funeral Home chapel in Tigard. Burial will be in Rose City Cemetery.

Mr. Miller died of lung cancer Thursday in his Tigard home. He was 77. He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Sheyenne, N.D., and moved to the Tigard area in 1937. He was a member of the Tigard United Methodist Church. He had a chicken hatchery on Cooper Mountain for 21 years. During World War II, he worked in the Portland shipyards as a foreman of burners.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Ovie; son, Lloyd of Clackamas; daughters, Barbara Dalaklis of Greensboro, N.C., Shirley Pettingell of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Anita Winn of West Linn; sisters, Dorothy Sayles of Beaverton and Jeanette Owen of Portland; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Visiting Nurse Hospice, Box 3426, Portland, Ore., 97208, and the American Cancer Society.

She was born to Harold and Nellie (Moe) Hall of Sheyenne, N.D. She was the loving wife of Earle Miller; and mother of Barbara, Shirley, Lloyd and Anita. A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Young's Funeral Home, Tigard. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Tigard United Methodist Church.
