Harold B. Hall

Funeral for Harold Benson Hall, who lived at 11619 SE Home Ave. in Milwaukie, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Milwaukie Lutheran Church followed by interment at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Mr. Hall, a retired carpenter, died Wednesday in a hospital. He was 82.

A native of Corydon, Pa., Mr. Hall had lived in the Portland area since 1941. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Milwaukie Community Club and Milwaukie Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Nellie C.; three daughters, Ovie A. Miller, Tigard, Ione Hughes, Tacoma, and Doris K. Heigel, Sherwood; two sons, Lowell L., Hubbard, and Dale R., Kennewick, Wash.; two sisters, Hazel Clure, Payette, Ida., and Mary Ebner, Deweyville, Tex.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Nellie C. Hall

Funeral for Nellie Christine Hall, who died Saturday in a Portland care center, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Milwaukie Luther Church, with interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hall was born in New Rockford, N.D., but lived in the Portland area 41 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Milwaukie Lutheran Church and the Milwaukie Community Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris Heigel of Issaquah, Wash., Ovie Miller of Portland and Ione Hughes of Tacoma; sons, Lowell of Hubbard and Dale of Kennewick, Wash.; sister, Edna Twamlay of New Rockford, N.D.; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was born to Harold and Nellie (Moe) Hall of Sheyenne, N.D. She was the loving wife of Earle Miller; and mother of Barbara, Shirley, Lloyd and Anita. A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Young's Funeral Home, Tigard. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Tigard United Methodist Church.

Ione Hughes

Eunice Ione Hughes (Hall) was born in Sheyenne, ND on October 12, 1920, and passed away on January 6, 2016 in Tacoma, WA.

Ione was raised in New Rockford. She graduated in 1939 and moved to Portland, OR, where she worked for Walgreens as a bookkeeper. After a year in Sacramento, she returned to Portland to work for Oregon Physicians and Dental Services until 1944, when she married John H. Hughes Jr, a dental student. A year later they moved to Tacoma where they lived until John was called into active duty (Army) and the family moved to Germany. They returned to Tacoma and the children attended Holy Cross, Bellarmine, Aquinas, Gonzaga, and WSU.

Ione was a founding member of the Tacoma Dental Auxiliary, a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital, a Cub Scout leader, and a Holy Cross bridge club member for over 50 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, boating, baking, family holidays, and traveling. She attended many musicals and trips with the Tacoma Musical Playhouse. She visited almost all 50 states and 17 countries, and at age 65 climbed Mt. Vesuvius in Italy!

Ione is survived by 3 children: John (Kathy), Mary Kay, and Nancyann (Greg); 10 grandchildren: Jeff, Ryan, Matthew, Tyler, John IV, Laurie, Nick, Laura, Lisa, and Jack; and 6 great-grandchildren: Lily, Ava, Logan, Lincoln, Noah, Andy. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Harold and Nellie Moe Hall, brothers Darrell and Dale, sister Ovie Miller, and son David. Ione is also survived by her brother Lowell (Betty), sister Doris Kay Heigel (Wayne), brother-in-law David Hughes (Lois), daughter-in-law Carm Hughes, sister-in-law Jo Ann Hall, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 2nd at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tacoma.
