SPRING GROVE

Dorothy W. Myers, 82, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 29, 2010. She was the loving wife of Sterling L. Myers. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage.

A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held on Monday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ, 6417 Church Road, Spring Grove, with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewings will be held on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Dorothy was born in Mecklenburg County, N. C., on December 19, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Rae Frazier.

She was raised in Burlington, N.C., graduated from Burlington High School, and then attended Elon Business School in North Caroline. She and her husband moved to Spring Grove in 1955. She was a homemaker for many years until they opened Menges Mills Market. She and her husband have owned the store for over 43 years.

Dorothy was a member of Trinity Roth united Church of Christ for over 55 years. She volunteered for Helping Hands for many years at the church. She enjoyed collecting pictures of her family and friends. She loved all of her customers and cherished the times she spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Sterling, she is survived by her daughters, Janice Sussman, Norma Markle and her husband, Wayne, Kathy Tawney and her husband, Tommy, Carol Miller and her husband, Jay, and her son Sam Myers and his wife, Angie, all of Spring Grove; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Shane, Angie, Blair, Breanna, Bryce, Brooke, Brody, Bralyn, Jay Jr., and Mark; and her six great-grandchildren, Lucas, Alex, Keikoa, Camden, Caylee, and Alexa.

Sterling L. Myers, 90, passed away suddenly on September 29, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dorothy W. Myers, who passed away in 2010.

Sterling was born in Jackson Township on August 21, 1927 and was the last surviving child of the late Albert and Mabel (Becker) Myers. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was the owner of Menges Mills Market for over 45 years and a farmer for his entire life. He was also a lifelong member of Trinity Roth United Church of Christ in Spring Grove. He was dedicated to his wife and family and had a true love and passion for farming.

Sterling is survived by his daughters, Janice Sussman, Norma Markle and her husband, Wayne, Kathy Tawney and her husband, Tommy, Carol Miller and her husband, Jay; his son, Sam Myers and his wife, Angie all of Spring Grove; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Shane, Angie, Blair, Breanna, Bryce, Brooke, Brody, Bralyn, Jay Jr., Mark; and his 11 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Alex, Keikoa, Camden, Caylee, Alexa, Tinley, Malachi, Moriah, Jaylinn and Titus and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond Myers and Albert Myers Jr.; and his sisters, Arline Shaberly, Catherine Dickensheets and Dorothy Stavely.

A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for his life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ, 6417 Church Rd., Spring Grove with Rev. Jason Myers officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove and on Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church.
