Spring Grove

Howard C. Stavely of Spring Grove died the morning of April 30 at his residence. He was 86.

Mr. Stavely retired from P.H. Glatfelter Co., Spring Grove, where he was employed for 20 years. He was previously employed at the York Naval Ordnance Plant.

He was a member of Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ and Sunday School where he was a former member of the church consistory.

He was a 1934 graduate of Littlestown High School and a member of the Littlestown Alumni Association.

Born in Littlestown July 28, 1914, he was a son of the late John M. and Mary Bupp Stavely.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Dorothy R. Myers Stavely; a daughter, Dawn M. Stavely of Spring Grove, and a son, Roger H. Stavely of Spring Grove.

Viewings are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. THe service is at 2 p.m. THursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth D. Cherry officiating.

Burial is in Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ Cemetery, Jackson Township.

SPRING GROVE

Dorothy R. (Myers) Stavely, 86, died at 10:29 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Manor Care North in York. She was the wife of Howard C. Stavely, who died April 30, 2001.

The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007, at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with her pastor, the Rev. Gene Edwards, officiating. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stavely will be laid to rest beside her husband in Trinity Roth's Church Cemetery in Jackson Township.

Dorothy was born October 21, 1920, in Jackson Township, a daughter of the late Albert, Sr. and Mabel Alice (Becker) Myers.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Roth's United Church of Christ in Spring Grove.

Mrs. Stavely will be sadly missed by her daughter, Dawn M. Stavely, and her son, Roger H. Stavely, both of Spring Grove; a brother, Sterling Myers of Menges Mills; and a sister, Catharine Dickensheets of Hanover. She was preceded in death by a sister, Arline Shaberly; and two brothers, Raymond Myers and Albert B. Myers, Jr.
