Philip G. Orange

Feb. 28, 1924 — Aug. 1, 1992

INDEPENDENCE — Dr. Philip G. Orange, 68, died Saturday in a local care center.

A native of Pilot Rock and graduate of Pilot Rock High School, he had lived in Oregon all his life. He had moved from Salem to Independence in 1951.

He married Maxine Wagner on Aug. 29, 1948, in Portland.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a 1950 graduate of Pacific University School of Optometry. He was an optometrist and a member of the American Optometric Association.

He enjoyed woodworking and boating, and he was a member of Lyon Masonic Lodge No. 29 in Independence Elks Lodge No. 1950. He was an elder in Christ's Church Methodist and Presbyterian United in Monmouth.

Survivors include his wife; son, John of Independence; daughter, Mary Koenig of Keizer; brother, Craig of San Diego; sister, Jane Harper of Brooks; and two grandchildren.

Visiting will be from 9 a. m. to 5 p.m. Monday in Farnstrom mortuary.

Ritualistic graveside services conducted by the Lyon Masonic Lodge will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Restlawn Memory Gardens. Vault interment will follow. Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church.

Contributions may be made to the church or to the Independence Downtown Association in care of the mortuary.
