Margaret F. Pettit

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — Margaret Frances (Newman) Pettit, 72, Chillicothe, died Wednesday, June 2, 1993, at her home.

Born in Brookfield, Mo., Mrs. Pettit had lived in Kansas City prior to moving to Chillicothe in 1945.

She and her husband, Philip, owned and operated Pettit's Paint and Wallpaper in Chillicothe.

Mrs. Pettit attended school in St. Catharine, Mo., and was graduated from the Brookfield high school. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women of the church and Busy Belle's Extension Club, all of Chillicothe. And she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Chillicothe.

In 1940, shes married Phillip J. Pettit at Brookfield. He survives of the home.

Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Newman; and a sister, Marie A. Newman.

Additional survivors: a sister, Dorothy Cray of Arvada, Colo.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield. Visitation: after 9 a.m. Friday, at the Norman-Wagy-Singer-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — Phillip J. Pettit, 76, Chillicothe, died Saturday, Dec. 11. 1993, at a hospital.

Born in Everton, he moved to Chillicothe from Kansas City in 1945.

Mr. Pettit was graduated from Bucklin High School and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe; the Masonic Lodge No. 89 of Chillicothe; the Modern Woodmen Association; and the Chillicothe YMCA.

In 1940, he married Margaret Newman at Brookfield. She died in June.

Mr. Pettit also was preceded in death by a brother; and a sister.

Surviving: a niece, Janet Pettit Parkes of Teschumseh, Mich.; and two nephews, Gary of Redmond, Wash., and Bruce of Brookfield.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield. Visitation: after 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
