Wedding Day Set

Mary Frances New has named Saturday, Oct. 1, as her wedding day. At noon, in the chapel of All Saints Episcopal Church, she will become the bride of Albert Bailey Potter III. It will be a simple ceremony before immediate families and a few intimate friends.

Lanny Cranston will be the bride's only attendant. She is planning a luncheon in Mary Frances' honor Saturday. Among the well-wishers who will be present at Annandale Golf Club will be the hostess' mother, Mrs. William E. Cranston, the bride-elect's mother, Mrs. Acord New, and the bridegroom-elect's mother, Mrs. Albert Bailey Potter.

Others to Attend

Others invited are Mrs. Sherman H. Talbo, Mrs. Paul Doleshall, Mrs. Richard Hibbard, Mary Palmer, Joanne Sampson, Jane Redford, Mary Jean Hazzard, Bonny Howes and Virginia Karahadian, who gave a luncheon Friday for Mary Frances.

Redmond Jarrett will be best man for Bailey. He has invited James P. Kennedy and Benjamin Shattuck to usher.

Among those planning parties for the couple are the Sherman Talbots and the Robert Kerrs.

Potter-New

Mary Frances New, daughter of Mrs. Acord New of San Marino and of Robert Valetine New of Pasadena, spoke her marriage vows with Albert Bailey Potter III, son of the Albert Bailey Potters also of Pasadena, in the chapel of All Saints Episcopal Church in the Crown City. Only relatives and a few intimate friends witnessed the noon rite.

The attractive bride chose a gown of Alencon lace and dutchess satin with a crown of matching lace holding her shoulder-length veil. She carried a spray of gardenias and bouvardia. Her maid of honor, Lanny Cranston, wore emerald-green satin and carried gardenias.

Groomsmen Names

The best man was Redmond D. Jarrett. Ushers were James Patterson Kennedy and Benjamin Haines Shattuck.

Mary Frances was graduated from Anoakia School and attended Finch Junior College and UCLA. Her bridegroom was graduated from Midland School for Boys.

Among the out-of-town guests present at the wedding and at the reception, which was held in Mrs. New's home, 2295 Sherwood Road, were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Gilmore Anderson of Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara, and their daughter, Mrs. Sheldon Strong of Devon, Pa., as well as Mr. and Mrs. WIlliam Dennis of Fall Brook.

The couple will be at home at 1240 S Marengo Ave., Pasadena, following their wedding trip to an undisclosed destination.

Albert Bailey Potter III of Wickenburg died May 8 in Wickenburg. He was 70. Mr. Potter was born August 10, 1928 in Evanston, Illinois and had lived in Arizona for seven years, coming from Colorado.

He grew up in Pasadena, California and served with the 40th Division in the Korean Conflict. He also was an active member in the California Civil Air Patrol.

Survivors include his wife Mary Frances Potter of Wickenburg; daughter Penelope Potter Coleman; sons John Bailey Potter and Robert Brooks Potter; bother Brooks Potter Hanson; sister, Cynthia Sperry Potter; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13 at the San Gabriel Cemetery at the San Gabriel Cemetery in San Gabriel, California, with Father Jack Smart officiating. Interment is at the San Gabriel Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Mr. Potter’s name.
