Seattle Daily Times, April 17, 19242003
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Sweet of Minneapolis, announce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret, to Mr. Albert Bailey Potter of Chicago, son of Mrs. Edward Emerson of Boston. Miss Sweet, who has been spending the winter in Miami, Fla., was a guest of Miss Mildred Farrar several years ago and was a much feted visitor.
Minneapolis Sunday Tribune, September 21, 19245277
IN HOLY TRINITY church Miss Margaret Sweet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Sweet of Eleventh avenue southeast, and Mr. Albert Baily Potter of Chicago, son of Mrs. Edward Emerson of Boston, Mass., exchanged marriage vows yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives. Easter lilies, cybotium ferns and lighted cathedral candles banked the chancel where the service was read by the bride's uncle, the Rev. Richard Read, pastor of the church.
The church organist played the nuptial music, including "The Bridal Chorus" from "lohengrin," for the processional, and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" for the recessional.
Entering first were the ushers, who included Messrs. Philip Staltonstall and Lloyd Byers of Boston, former classmates of the bridegroom at Harvard university; John Robertshaw of Pittsburgh, Charles E. Anderson, Larry Wilson, George Haskell and Patrick Morris, all of Chicago, and Douglas Gilmore Anderson, brother-in-law of the bride, of this city.
The bridesmaids, who entered next, included the Misses Penelope Potter of Boston, sister of the bridegroom, Elizabeth Grierson of Mankota, the bride's cousin, Mary Ayre Law, another cousin of the bride, her sister, Polly Sweet, Isabelle McDonald, classmate of the bride at the Bishop school, La Jolla, Calif., and Delphine Moreau. The girls wore gowns fashioned alike of tulle shading from delicate pink to rose, made short waisted with shaded pink satin sashes and ruffled skirts caught with French flowers. Their hats of pink tulle were trimmed with flat tulle bows ending in streamers. They carried Colonial bouquets.
Gowns of larkspur blue chiffon appliqued in rose velvet and fashioned with overskirts were worn by Mrs. Douglas Gilmore Anderson (Catherine Sweet), sister of the bride, who was the matron of honor, and Miss Betty Law, her cousin, the maid of honor. They immediately preceded the bride to the altar. Both wore hats of blue chiffon and carried arm bouquets of pink roses.
The bride entered with her father and they were met at the altar by the bridegroom and his brother, Mr. Brooks Potter of Chicago, the best man. She was gowned in white satin fashioned on long lines with side drape held with orange blossoms and with flounces of Brussells lace on the skirt. The full court train extended from the shoulders and was inserted with lace and lined with shell pink chiffon. Her veil of Brussels lace had previously been worn by her sister, Mrs. Douglas Gilmore Anderson when she was married. She carried a shower bouquet of white gardenias and lilies of the valley.
Receiving with the young couple at the reception which followed the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Sweet and Mrs. Emerson. Mrs. Sweet wore a gown of dull blue chiffon embroidered with crystals and trimmed with blue velvet. Southern smilax, ferns and pink roses decorated the rooms. After a wedding trip Mr. Potter and his bride will be at home in Chicago.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding besides members of the bridal party included Mrs. Emerson, Miss Kate Potter of Newton, Mass., aunt of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sweet of Boston and Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Hoer of Mankato, uncles and aunts of the bride, and Mrs. Clara Grierson of Mankato, the bride's aunt.

Mrs. John Sweet entertained last Saturday afternoon at her home on Eleventh avenue in honor of the second birthday of her daughter Margaret. The guests were about ten of the little girls of the neighborhood and they helped to celebrate the anniversary in truly merry fashion. In the rooms great bunches of red peonies delighted the eye and a large cluster of the same flowers occupied the center of the table in the dining room. After an afternoon spent in playing drop the hankerchief, tag and other games well loved by children, light refreshments were served in the dining room, when little souvenir trays were given each guest. Candies were passed on the lawn. Assisting Mrs. Sweet was her sister, Mrs. A. A. Law.

Pasadena, sadly lacking in "new talent," is all done up over the newcomers, Mr. and Mrs. Albert B. Potter, who have moved into a lovely home on San Pasqual. Entertainment for the Potters has been rampant and they are fast making many new friends.
Mrs. Potter was the former Miss Margaret Sweet of Minneapolis.

THE ALBERT BAILEY POTTERS are still picking up forgotten items to mail to the Brewster Hansons and their offspring, who've just flown back to Geneva. . . . They've been visiting Brooks Hanson's parents for three wonderful weeks. . . . But now the household has dimished from 10 down to 2—or 3 if Cynnie's home. . . .
