Earl Archie Thompson, 72, of 1278 34th Ave. NW, died Friday at a Salem hospital.
Born in Wichita, Kan., he moved to Oregon as a child. From 1939 to 1968 he worked in California where he was a civilian employe of the Navy. He moved to Salem to live with his son, Jack Thompson, last year.
He was a Navy veteran of World War I, a member of the Masons, the Elks and the American Legion.
Other survivors include a brother, Stanley, Portland; sisters Mrs. Lee Canfield and Mrs. Lois Buchholz, Salem; five grandchildren.
The casket will remain open until 9 p.m. Monday at the Howell - Edwards mortuary. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in North Hollywood with interment in the Vallhalla Memorial Park.

AMITY — Loyd Byron McCain, 66, Rt. 1, Box 244-7, died Saturday at home.
Born in Wyoming, he was raised in Nampa, Idaho, and served in the Army during World War II. He moved to Salem after the war and to Corvallis in 1968. In 1975 he moved to the Bethel Hills area near Amity. He was a member of the Arabian Horse Association and Electricians Union 280 of Salem.
Survivors include wife, Marie; son, Jim, daughter, Joyce Anderson, both Corvallis; brother, Lester, Nampa; sisters Mickey Ranney, Salt Lake City, Edith Jones, Nampa.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at his residence and interment in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem. Macy & Son mortuary, McMinnville, is in charge of arrangements.
