William Thomas Stephens, 73, of 2915 East Harrison street, formerly employed by the Wabash railroad as a boilermaker's helper, died in his home at 9 a. m. yesterday.
Mr. Stephens had been a resident of Decatur for 25 years and was employed by the Wabash railroad until 1939, when he retired because of ill health. He was an honorary member of the A. F. of L. boilermaker's union.
He was born in Ashburn, Mo., Jan. 14, 1874, a son of Samuel and Sarah Stephens. He was married Nov. 10, 1912, to Anna Smith in St. Louis.
He leaves his wife; four children, Mrs. Isabel Roarik, Mrs. Lois Zerfowski and Gayle T. Stephens, all of Decatur, and Bill Stephens, Greenville, Miss.; five children by a former marriage, Graydon, Jack, Paul, Edgar and Mable; and several grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Manson funeral home, where friends may call. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the West Side Nazarene church, with burial in Graceland cemetery.
