A NUMBER of interesting June weddings were held in Minneapolis and St. Paul Tuesday evening. Churches and homes were scenes of the events which were solemnized before gatherings of friends and relatives, and, in most cases, were followed by wedding receptions.
Plymouth Congregational church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Priscilla Alden Morse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard W. Morse of 1635 West Twenty-sixth street, and Mr. Herbert McCune Richardson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Richardson of 1039 Ashland avenue, St. Paul. Poplar trees, cybotum ferns and white peonies banked the chancel of the church were the vows were exchanged. Branched candelabra held lighted cathedral candles furnishing illumination in the chancel and at the sides of the church where tall poplar trees were arranged. In the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives the service was read at 8:30 o'clock by the Rev. Harry P. Dewey, pastor of the church. The nuptial music including "The Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," was played by Mr. Hamlin Hunt, the organist at the church.
First of the bridal party to enter were the ushers, Messrs. Willard A. Morse, brother of the bride; Harvard S. Rockwell and Donald Sprague of Minneapolis; Messrs. Jean Foley, Melville Roberts and Lloyd Klingman, all of St. Paul. Miss Harriet Richardson of St. Paul, sister of the bridegroom, one of the bridesmaids followed the ushers and after her came Miss Virginia Grimes of Minneapolis, the other bridesmaid, Mrs. Harvard S. Rockwell (Mildred Morse), who served as matron of honor entered after the bridesmaids, and she was followed by her two small daughters, Rowena and Cornelia Rockwell, who acted as flower girls and immediately preceded the bride. The bride's three attendants wore gowns fashioned alike in period style of three shades of orchid taffeta, the bouffant skirts made very full, short in front and longer in back, and the sleeveless bodices finished at the neckline with orchid tulle bound in the taffeta. They wore crystal necklaces, gifts from the bride and carried bouquets of white daisies and maidenhair ferns tied with orchid and silver ribbons. Dainty frocks of accordion pleated orchid georgette trimmed with cream lace were worn by the little flower girls who had about their heads bands of tulle and lavender shaded ribbons edged with silver and ending in rosettes at one side. They carried Colonial bouquets.
Entering with her father, who gave her in marriage, the bride was met at the chancel steps by Mr. Richardson and his best man, Mr. Guilford A. Morse of Boise, Idaho, brother of the bride. The bridal gown was fashioned in period style of ivory taffeta and tulle. the taffeta skirt made longer in back and short in front was veiled in three tiers of Alencon lace attached to a tulle foundation. The same kind of lace formed a deep bertha on the sleeveless taffeta bodice. Over a court train of silver tissue extended the veil of princess lace arranged at the back of the head with clusters of orange blossoms and held with a narrow band of princess lace and pearls in a semi-circle across the top. Lilies of the valley, white orchids and gardenias formed the shower bouquet carried by the bride.
Immediately after the ceremony a wedding reception for 75 guests was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morse. Receiving with the bridal couple were their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morse and Mr. and Mrs. Richardson. Mrs. Morse wore a gown of French blue beaded georgette and Mrs. Richardson, rose-colored georgette, both carrying bouquets of lavender orchids and gardenias.
Mr. Richardson and his bride left on a wedding trip through the Canadian Rockies where they will visit at Banff and Lake Louise. In the fall they will be at home in St. Paul. For travel the bride is wearing a two-piece print sport dress, a gray velvet coat and a gray felt hat.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Guilford A. Morse and children, Barton and Arnold Whitcomb Morse of Boise, Idaho, and Miss Eleanor Rose Barton, also of Boise.
