IRA RICHARDSON RITES SATURDAY

Pioneer Business Man, Prominent Mason, Is Stricken Here

Ira A. Richardson, 91, resident of Toledo for 62 years, member of Masonic bodies for more than 60 years, and probably the oldest real estate and insurance man in the city, died Thursday night at his home, 8 Norwood court. He had been ill for three weeks.

Tho he had not been active in business for several yeras, Richardson was vice-president of the Judd Richardson Co., the business which he established in 1866, up to the time of his death. Offices of the company will be closed all day Saturday.

Born in Northfield, O., Richardson moved to Toledo in 1866 and entered the insurance and real estate field. He was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the first trade organization in his profession, the Fire Underwriters' Association of Toledo, and was an officer in the association.

As a real estate operator, he handled the development of the old West End for Walton Bros. of Cleveland.

He was superintendent for several years of Platt Mission, a branch of First Baptist church, which later became the Ashland Avenue Baptist church, Ashland and Woodruff avenues.

Richardson joined Toledo Lodge No. 144, F. and A. M., in 1867. He was a member of Fort Meigs chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and of Toledo council. He served on the executive committee of Toledo Masonic bodies for 22 consecutive years.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ellen R. Bissell; a son, Judd Richardson, and two grandsons, Ralph G. Richardson and Dorman E. Richardson, all of Toledo.
