KINGSTON — James R. Rollins, 62, Route 2, died Sunday at a Rome hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Rollins was born in Kingston, son of Robert R. Rollins and Kathleen Roger Rollins. He was a retired construction superintendent. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with Gen. Patton's Third Army in North Africa and in the invasion of Normandy, where he received a bronze star, silver star and purple heart with two clusters. He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pat Myrick Rollins, Kingston; three daughters, Mrs. Andrea Bruce, Stone Mountain, Mrs. Elaine Davis, Loganville, and Mrs. Lynn Stanton, Marietta; three step-sons, James Clowders, Jonesboror, Charles Clowdes and Richard Clowdess, both of Norcross; a sister, Mrs. Anita Kitchen Ford, Brandenton, Fla.; a brother, Bob Rollins, St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kingston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Kines officiating. Interment will be at Kingston Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joe Hall, Homer Harris, Bill Railey, James Mitchell, Bobby Jones and Ronne Fredieu.
