Miss Blanche Hoover left yesterday for Los Angeles, Cal., where, on next Wednesday, she will be married to Mr. Scott Sayre. From all indications there is no other girl more loved and admired that Miss Hoover, and the day of her departure was an occasion of much regret, although she goes away under such happy auspices. A crowd of her friends accompanied her from her home to the train and showered her with innumerable evidences of their affection. Gifts galore were received by her, and all the features of a joyous nuptial celebration were manifested, needing only the presence of the happy fellow, Mrs.Sayre, to complete the program. Mr. Sayre was formerly a resident of this city, when he was associated with the N. C. R. Co., and his many friends hare are extending to him a profusion of congratulations and best wishes.

Word was received today by Mrs. Hoover of West Third street, of the marriage of her daughter, Miss Blanche, to Mr. J. Scott Sayre, at Los Angeles, Cal. Many friends in this city have sent on congratulations as a supplement to the many extended to the pretty bride, who left here last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Sayre will live long and be happy if the wishes of home folks are fulfilled, and even though many miles separate them from loved ones here, the remembrance of the wedding day was manifest by innumerable messages, and ever out-going train the past few days carried tokens of love and regard to these favorite young people. They will reside during the coming year at Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Herald, October 3, 19084038
The screams of several women frightened away a burglar who had entered the home of Mrs. M. E. Hoover, 925 Euclid avenue, early yesterday morning, and he escaped without securing anything of value. The same person, it is thought, entered the home of Edwin m. Van Voorhis, directly opposite, but so far nothing of any value has been missed.
While he was ransacking the Hoover home Mrs. Hoover and her daughters, Miss Lida and Mrs. J. Scott Sayre, were awakened by the noise and began to scream. In addition to frightening away the robber their cries awakened several neighbors, and one man, clad only in his night clothes, rushed out on his front porch with a rifle and attempted to capture the thief.
