George L. Scott, 65, Is Claimed by Death

George L. Scott, 65 years old, died from a complication of diseases at his home, 19 1/2 South Eleventh street, Friday night.

Mr. Scott was a nephew of the late William G. Scott. He was employed in the machine department of the old Gaar-Scott company and at the time of its merging into the Rumely plant, was the oldest employe in point of service, having worked there continuously for forty-five years. His father was the late John Scott.

The deceased was a member of Whitewater Lodge of Odd Fellows, Osceala Tribe of Red Men and Eden Lodge D. of R.

He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Kate Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Earlham.

FOUR LODGES TO HONOR MEMORY OF MRS. SCOTT

Dead Woman Was Leader in Social and Organization Work.

Women of four lodges Sunday evening will pay tribute to Mrs. Kate Taggart Scott, 63 years old, who died Friday night at Reid Memorial hospital following an operation. Mrs. Scott, one of the most active lodge women of the city, has been in failing health since the death of her husband, George Scott, In April.

Mrs. Scott was formerly Miss Kate Taggart, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Taggart, and has lived her entire life in this city. She was married to George L. Scott forty-one years ago.

She is survived by four sisters, Miss Margaret and Miss Millie Taggart of Chicago, Mrs. Josephine Conway and Miss Mary Taggart of this city; and three brothers, William, James and John Taggart, all of Richmond.

Mrs. Scott has been active in club and lodge work in the city. She was past grand state commander of the Woman's Relief Corps at the time of her death and was past grand of Eden Rebecca lodge having served in all the chairs.

She was also an active worker and held offices in the Pythian Sisters, Pocahontas, G. A. R. auxiliary and the Penny club. During the war Mrs. Scott gave much of her time to Red Cross work, assisting in the many campaigns for war funds.

Funeral Monday Afternoon.

Funeral services will be held from the residence, 19 South Eleventh street, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J. J. Rae of First Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will he in Earlham cemetery. Friends may call at the residence at any time.

Members of the Woman's Relief Corps will meet Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Florence Laudig, 16 South Eleventh street and then go to the Scott home for funeral services.

Women of the Rebecca lodge will meet at the hall at 7:30 o'clock to go to the residence; Pythian Sisters will meet with Mrs. Lodwick on South Eleventh street at 7:45 o'clock to hold funeral services; and Pocahontas members will meet at 8 p. m. at their hall to go to the Scott residence.
