STARLING G. SOUDER, son of CARRIE M. GRANGER and WILLIAM PATTON SOUDER, was born August 20, 1869 in Athens, Athens, Ohio,1787 and died in February, 1958 in Gadsden County, Florida.99

He married EDNA ANNA COFFIN on September 15, 1891 in Congregational Church, Toledo, Lucas, Ohio,1786, 2373, 5106 daughter of MARY ELIZABETH SCOTT and EDWIN S. COFFIN. She was born April 16, 1870 in Ohio,3557, 873 and died July 23, 1938 in Reid Memorial Hospital, Wayne County, Indiana.873, 4931 She is buried in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Wayne, Indiana.89, 873, 4931

Married.

The marriage of Edna Coffin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Coffin, formerly of this city, to Mr. Sterling G. Souder, was consummated Tuesday evening, Sept 15, at 8 o'clock, at the Congregational church, Washington street, Toledo, O., Rev. O. D. Fisher officiating.

The church was beautifully decorated, the altar being strewn with cut flowers. The event took place on the twenty-third anniversary of the marriage of the bride's parents, the hour of the ceremony being the same as theirs. The sweet strains of the wedding march at 8 o'clock announced the arrival of the bridal party. The attendants, Miss Florence Coffin, sister of the bride, and Miss Blanch Scott, of New Paris, O., were dressed in pink silk and carried pink roses. Miss Gertrude Kent, of Danville, Ill., was arrayed in white crepe de chene; Miss Gertrude Barry of Indianapolis, wearing a dress of lemon colored crepe de chene and both carrying large baskets of flowers. The bride, beautiful in a white India silk, with an overdress of white lace and carrying bride's roses, approached the altar on the arm of her father. There they were met by the groom and his attendants, Mr. Bert Hoag and Mrs. Chas. Hickman, of Vauvalid, Ills. The ushers were Messrs. Dallas Rydman, Arthur W. Rievle, Chas. Robinson and Newel Newton. A delightful reception followed the ceremony, at the residence of the bride's parents on Oakwood avenue. Throughout the evening telegrams of congratulations kept coming in. The presents were elegant and numerous, numbering over one hundred.

Mr. and Mrs. Souder are now sojourning in the east. They will visit New York, Schenectady and other cities.

The first reunion of the Scott family was held on the Fourth of July at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Star G. Souder "Forest Home," east of the city. Following dinner, a program of toasts was given, A. J. Scott acting as toastmaster, and response was given by Andrew Scott, Charles McGuire, A. B. Price, E. S. Coffin. Mrs. A. O. Morris read a genealogy of the family. Mrs. A. F. Scott was elected president for the year and Mrs. A. B. Price, secretary.

Musical numbers were given by Miss Martha Scott, Miss Ruth Scott, Mrs. Whitney McGuire, and Star G. Souder. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Scott, Miss Martha J. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Scott and Miss Elizabeth Scott of New Paris, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mcguire and Suzanne McGuire, Mr. and Mrs. Whitney McGuire, Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Price and Miss Elizabeth Price, Mrs. Rachael Scott, Andrew Scott, Miss Martha Scott, Miss Ruth Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hewitt, and Charles Hewiett of Knightstown, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Morris and Mrs. Mary Hauren of Newcastle, Mr. and Mrs. William Moore of Carthage, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Souder and Paul J. Souder. The guests of the family were Mrs. M. C. Price, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Price of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ann Tillotson and E. S. Coffin of Toledo.

MR., MRS. SOUDER HAVE DINNER PARTY AT "FOREST HOME"

Mr. and Mrs. Star G. Souder entertained with a lovely dinner party at their residence, "Forest Home," Thursday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. Scott Button, of Schenectady, N. Y., who are the houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGuire, of Reeveston. The halls and living room of the Souder home were beautifully decorated in red and white peonies and the dining room in pink peonies and ferns.

At the dining table, which was ornamented with a centerpiece of garden flowers, covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Button, Mr. and Mrs. McGuire and daughter, Suzanne, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Scott and daughter, Martha, Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Price and daughter Betty, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Scott of New Paris and daughter Elizabeth, and Mr. and Mrs. Souder.

Mrs. Souder Is Re-elected by Neighborly Club

Mrs. Starr Souder was re-elected president of the Neighborly club at the organization's annual Christmas celebration held at the Souder residence, "Forest Home," on the Garwood road all day Wednesday.

Other officers named upon the occasion include Mrs. Gordon Gaylor, vice president; Mrs. Roy Reigel, recording secretary; Mrs. Carl Norris, corresponding secretary; Mrs. William Matti, treasurer and Miss Anna Fetta, publicity chairman.

The club will hold its annual banquet in the American Legion home on the Henley Road on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The husbands and children of the club members will be guests at the banquet.

A luncheon was served at 1 o'clock at the club's all day Christmas party yesterday. The house decorations as well as appointments for the luncheon were effectively carried out in the Christmas colors. Holly wreaths were hung at all the windows. Boughs of cedar were used to bank the large open fireplace in the living room.

Mrs. A. B. Price, a guest for the day assisted the hostess. The season was further celebrated with an exchange of gifts.

Members present besides Mrs. Souder were Miss Anna Fetta, Mrs. Harry Backmeyer, Mrs. F. L. Hodgin, Mrs. Grace Raper, Mrs. Matti, Mrs. Charles Ridenour, Mrs. Martha Reigel, Mrs. Howard Turner, Mrs. Gaylor and Mrs. Walter Moore.

Guests besides Mrs. Price were Miss Marie Bolenbaugh, Mrs. Floyd Gorss and Miss Ruth Norris.

Richmond Item, July 24, 1938873

MRS. EDNA SOUDER

CENTERVILLE, Ind., July 23.—Mrs. Edna Souder, 68 years old, 313 East Plum street, died early Saturday at Reid Memorial hospital, Richmond. She was born Apr. 16, 1870 the daughter of Edwin S. and Mary E. Coffin. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors are the husband, Starling G. Souder and one sister, Mrs. A. B. Price.

Funerals services will be held Tuesday at 10 a. m. at the W. A. Welfer Funeral home in Richmond where friends may call any time after noon Sunday. Burial in Earlham cemetery.
