Rites Held at Vernon For Ed H. Staley

VERNON, Texas, Nov. 18.—Funeral services for Ed H. Staley, 60, of 3103 Texas street, were held Friday afternoon from the Underwood chapel here. Rev. G. T. Reaves, pastor of the Central Christian church, officiated. Interment was in East View cemetery under the direction of the Underwood Funeral home.

Mr. Staley died at 2:45 Friday morning in a Vernon hospital after a two-week illness. He had been engaged in the radio business here for several years and from 1926 to 1929 was employed as a telegrapher for the Vernon Daily Record.

Mr. Staley was born in Waterville, Kan., and moved to Kansas City when 15 years old. He resided there until 1919 when he came to Vernon. While in Kansas City, Mr. Staley was a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railway company and the board of trade.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Anna Staley; his father, P. C. Staley, a resident of this section for 45 years; a brother, C. R. Staley; and two sisters, Mrs. Bess Brown of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Eva Whatley of Dallas.

Rites Conducted For Mrs. Staley

Services for Mrs. Anna Staley, Vernon resident since 1922, were conducted in Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel Sunday at 4:00 p. m. by L. R. Mickey, minister of Houston and Pease Church of Christ, and interment was in East View Memorial Park.

Mrs. Staley died late Friday in her home at 1228 Turner Street following a prolonged illness.

She was born in Gentryville, Mo., but moved to Bloomington, Kan., when she was a child. She and E. H. Staley were married in Waterville, Kan., in 1894. From Waterville they moved to Kansas City, Mo., and from there to Wichita Falls. They lived in Wichicta Falls from 1918 until they moved to Vernon in 1922.

Surviving are two nephews and two nieces.
