Emma Bollinger

Emma M. Bollinger, 89, of York, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. She was the wife of Lester E. Bollinger, who died in 1977.

Born March 23, 1912, in York Township (Leaders Heights), she was a daughter of the late Theophilus P. and Clara E. (Herman) Stambaugh.

She was a sales clerk at the former Bears and Bon-Ton department stores in York, and, in 1974, she retired from Yorktowne Hotel as an executive housekeeper. She was a member of St. Stephen's UCC in West York and their Women's Guild, Christian Women of York, Never Grow Old Group at Zion UCC, Half Century Fellowship at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in York, and York Chapter 1246 AARP. She was a volunteer and board member for Homewood Auxiliary at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.

Surviving are a son, Ronald L. Bollinger of Spring Grove; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. WIlliam A. Spears, chaplain at Homewood at Plum Creek, officiating. Burial will be in Paradise (Holtzschwamm) Union Cemetery in Thomasville. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
