Dr. Ervin C. Stambaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Stambaugh, 601 Carlisle avenue, and Miss Margaret Rhodes, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. E. T. Rhodes, 1422 West Market street, were married last evening at 8:30 o'clock at the bride's home. The ring ceremony was performed by the bride's father.
Dr. Stambaugh is a graduate of West York High school, class of 1920; bachelor of science degree from State college, class of 1923, and Jefferson Medical school, class of 1927. He served two years' internship in Jefferson hospital, Philadelphia. While a student at Jefferson Medical school, Dr. Stambaugh finished as an honor student and won medals in genito-urinary surgery and gynealogy. At Jefferson he was a member of Phi Alpha Sigma, social fraternity, and also Alpha Omega Alpha, honorary medical fraternity.
The bride is a graduate of the York Collegiate institute, class of 1921, attended Hood college at Frederick and Peabody Conservatory of Music, Baltimore.
The couple will leave this morning on a trip to the New England states. They will return September 15 and make their home at Lewes, Del. In that city Dr. Stambaugh will be connected with the Beebe hospital. He will practice medicine at Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Those present at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Stambaugh, Rev. and Mrs. E. T. Rhodes, Tracy Rhodes and Miss Dorothy Jacobs.

Mrs. Margaret Rhodes Stambaugh, 84, of 38 Pine Reach, Henlopen Acres, Del., died Thursday morning at her residence.
She was the wife of Dr. Ervin L. Stambaugh.
She taught piano and organ until her retirement in 1985. She was also actively involved as a choir director for the Lewes Presbyterian Church, an organist for 30 years for Rehoboth Christian Science Church, and an accompanist in the Rehoboth Beach area. She also served as and observer during World War II and as a United Service Organization hostess.
She graduated from the York Collegiate Institute as valedictorian of her class. She attended Lebanon Valley College, Hood College, Frederick, Md.; and the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, having served under Sir Edward Baxter Perry.
Mrs. Stambaugh was born in York, a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. E.T. Rhodes.
Survivors include:
A son — John R. Stambaugh, Rehoboth Beach, Del.
A daughter — Jean Stambaugh-Marsh, Lewes, Del.
Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, King Charles Highway, Lewes, Del. The Rev. John Shaw, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

REHOBOTH BEACH — Dr. Ervin L. Stambaugh, a physician for more than 50 years, died Tuesday of heart failure at home. He was 86.
Dr. Stambaugh, of 38 Pine Reach, Henlopen Acres, was a general practitioner and surgeon, specializing in urology. He graduated from Penn State University in 1924 and Jefferson Medical College in 1928, and served a two-year residency at Jefferson Hospital.
He then moved with his wife, Margaret Rhodes Stambaugh, to Lewes, where he worked at the Beebe Clinic and taught nurses at Beebe Hospital. He was appointed a U.S. Public Health Officer in 1929, a post he held for 50 years.
During World War II, he often traveled to ships at sea, treating injured soldiers and sailors.
He was staff physician at Maple Grove Nursing Home, now Millsboro Nursing Home, and the Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes, for many years. He began his private practice in 1950, with offices in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, and was admitted in 1954 to the American College of Surgeons.
He retired in 1981.
In 1974, he was given an outstanding service award by Gov. Sherman W. Tribbitt for his work in treating alcoholism. He was a member of Phi Omega Sigma fraternity and Lambda Omega Lambda academic honor society at Jefferson Medical College. He was a past president of the Delaware Medical Society, a 50-year member and past master of Jefferson Lodge AF & AM, Lewes. He was a former director of the Farmers Bank of Rehoboth Beach, a former member of the Delaware Kidney Foundation, and an elder at Lewes Presbyterian Church.
His wife, Margaret, died in August. He is survived by a son, John R. of Rehoboth Beach; a daughter, Jean Stambaugh-Marsh of Lewes; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Lewes Presbyterian Church, with burial in the adjoining churchyard. There will be no viewing.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Philadelphia.
