—John M. Tennis, traveling agent of the Baltimore line, with headquarters at this point, returned yesterday from an extended Western tour. He states that unless frosts come within ten days the corn crop will be the heaviest throught the West ever produced. The wheat crop will not average more than forty per cent, its usual yield.

The funeral of John M. Tennis occurs to-morrow afternoon at one o'clock, from the hom eof his parents on south 8th street. It will be conducted by Rev. Hughes, who married him, and Rev. Craft, pastor of Grace church, to which his parents belong. His brothers Will, general ticket agent of the Erie road, and Oliver, both of Cincinnati, are in the city. A large number of friends from Indianapolis, Cincinnati and other points are expected. Special arrangements is being made for the accommodation of all railroaders, of which fraternity he was a member. He is to be buried in a very handsome metallic casket. The plate is engraved "John M. Tennis, born Feb. 1, 1841, died Feb. 8, 1883."

The casket in which the remains of John M. tennis are placed, is the finest metallic burial case, which was ever used in this part of the country—indeed it was the finest Mr. Downing the undertaker, could procure. It is trimmed with gold and glitters with beautiful carvings. The body is to be deposited in the vault for the present.
