PEKIN —(PNS)— George O. Warren, 87, of 1233 S. 4th St., died at 6:30 p. m. Sunday in Pekin Public Hospital. Taken to the hospital after choking on a piece of meat which lodged in his throat as he was eating dinner, he died shortly after arrival.
The funeral will be at 3 p. m. Wednesday at Kueck's Funeral Home, with Dr. Hubert Entwisle of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be Thursday morning in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, Mo.
Mr. Warren was a veteran of both the Spanish-American War and World War I, retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in the Spanish-American war as a sergeant, served in World War I as a lieutenant. He spent 20 years in active and reserve status in the army infantry and cavalry.
He was born Dec. 25, 1869, at Madison, Wis., a son of Ezra G. and Ellen Sylvester Warren. He graduated in 1891 at the University of Wisconsin, practiced law in Maryland before entering the U.S. Postal Service at St. Louis. In 1906 he entered the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1933.
He was married to Emma Pauline Saettele, Oct. 18, 1899, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his two sons, George Otis Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., and Arthur Randolph of Chula Vista, Calif.
A daughter preceded him in death.
He was a 50-year member of Empire Lodge AF & AM, the Pekin Elk's Club, the Royal Arch Mason, the Peoria Consistory, the Mohammed Shrine, the United Spanish War Veterans, the American Legion, the 40 et 8 and the Sons of the American Revolution.
He took pride in the fact that he was a descendant of Richard Warren, who came to America in November, 1620, aboard the Mayflower.
