A beautiful holiday wedding took place Christmas afternoon at the home of the Misses Henrietta M. and Theresa Benson, 423 South Main street, when their niece Miss Lourene Gardner Benson daughter of Sidney T. Benson of Falconer became the bride of Arthur Hunt Wheelock, son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Wheelock of Kennedy. The ceremony wa performed by Rev. Henry Haglund, pastor of the Baptist church of Kennedy.
The bride wore a gown of midnight blue velvet and a corsage of camellias. She carried a handkerchief which was carried by Mrs. William Wheelock at her wedding 30 years ago.
Miss Eleanor Loydahl of this city, the maid of honor was gowned in dusty pink. Her corsage was of violets, roses and sweetpeas. The best man was Jack Gustafson.
Candelabra with white lighted tapers and a Christmas tree with seasonal decorations completed the appointments of the room. Mrs. Lory B. Stewart played the wedding music.
An informal reception followed. White pom poms and poinsettias centered the buffet table, with ivory candles tied with red ribbon.
Wedding guests from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dann, and son, from Dunkirk, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Manuella of Fredonia and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Colburn of Clymer.
Following a wedding trip to Washington, D. C., the couple will take up residence in their new home at Kennedy after January 7.
The bride attended Jamestown High School and was graduated from Falconer High School in 1936, and attended Cortland State Normal school. The bridegroom is associated with his father in the Chic Inn.
The bride was honored at prenuptial affairs given by Mrs. Louis Lawrence, Mrs. G. F. Smith, and Mrs. Lois Olson. Mrs. Leonard Asker, Mrs. L. B. Stewart, the employees of the Anderson restaurant, Mrs. Frederick Mattison and Mrs. Robert Miller, Miss Eleanor Lovedahl, Mrs. J. H. Williamson and Mrs. E. Gilbert Entsberg, Mrs. Anthony Manuella and Mrs. Wheelock and Miss Grace Wheelock.
